Trying to make a backup copy of my Windows XP cd?

I’m in Windows, I don’t have CD burning software installed on my machine.
When I tried this last night, the copy CD had a folder named E: with all the files in it.
I know that’s the directory the blank CD was in, but this is actually a directory on the new CD.
What did I do wrong?
You need to make an image of the disc and burn that image to a new one. http://www.alcohol-soft.com/ has several tools that should do the job, namely Alcohol 52%.
