Updated Server Room & network DSL connection

In this update video you will see that we moved part of our server infrastructure around in the server room, as we are planning to move this equipment within the next 60 days to a new server room with better air conditioning and better power conditioning. This old server room is very noisy and gets very hot and does not have space to grow, The new server room alone is costing $50,000 for the air conditioning and power configuration alone.
Our DSL line is a 10 Mb high-speed internet connection, We have 12 servers, of which you only see 8 servers here. The other servers are in other locations due to lack of space.
There are 3 Mac servers, and the other 9 are Dell brand running Windows 2003 servers. They run specialized functions such as providing DNS, DHCP, print server, file server, mail server, data-backup, data base server, Mac Services, web server, ad/domain controller & ad backup, restore images.
In addition, we are installing a wireless controller and new WAP access points to cover 6 floors and gigabyte network switches, with a total cost of over $150,000 so it is not cheap. And that does not include the additional new dual cpu MACS that we are acquiring for the new library and new computer labs.

I foresee that in the future we may need a server for VOIP phone lines, and network video & conferencing services.

In my previous job we used the Shoretel IP phones, and also used Dell brand servers, but in that job we did not have Mac servers, except the one I had at my desk as a intranet (in-house) web server.

Windows Server 2008: restricted groups, Managing local group membership with a GPO

Restricted groups are a little known option in an Active Directory Domain. They control local group membership on your active directory clients. In this video, I add a domain group to a local group without going to each and every local machine using group policy. This allows me to create membership for a specific group of people to a specific group on a specific group of computers. It’s a great situation where I can make local admins or backup operators on a regional sect of computers. This feature is available onactive directory domains running Microsoft windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008. The client operating systems may include 2000, XP, Vista or 7.

Prerequisites:
- SSH installed on your machine (Ubuntu linux comes preinstalled with SSH)
- A remote computer with SSH server running
in this example I’m using a Godaddy gridhosting account,
which is 5 dollars a month for 100GB storage and 1TB throughput
- Magic (hope the remote ssh server has this ability otherwise you will need to contact the
administrators of the remote server to see how this is performed with their servers.
I’m doing this with a godaddy account, so you know this should work with godaddy
accounts this way).
- Some experience with the Linux command line (theoretically you can do this with windows but I’m not demonstrating this on a Windows machine). You certainly should be able to do this with the new Macintosh machines because at heart they are Unix-like. But you will need SSH for your mac to do this.
