Updated Server Room & network DSL connection

In this update video you will see that we moved part of our server infrastructure around in the server room, as we are planning to move this equipment within the next 60 days to a new server room with better air conditioning and better power conditioning. This old server room is very noisy and gets very hot and does not have space to grow, The new server room alone is costing $50,000 for the air conditioning and power configuration alone.
Our DSL line is a 10 Mb high-speed internet connection, We have 12 servers, of which you only see 8 servers here. The other servers are in other locations due to lack of space.
There are 3 Mac servers, and the other 9 are Dell brand running Windows 2003 servers. They run specialized functions such as providing DNS, DHCP, print server, file server, mail server, data-backup, data base server, Mac Services, web server, ad/domain controller & ad backup, restore images.
In addition, we are installing a wireless controller and new WAP access points to cover 6 floors and gigabyte network switches, with a total cost of over $150,000 so it is not cheap. And that does not include the additional new dual cpu MACS that we are acquiring for the new library and new computer labs.

I foresee that in the future we may need a server for VOIP phone lines, and network video & conferencing services.

In my previous job we used the Shoretel IP phones, and also used Dell brand servers, but in that job we did not have Mac servers, except the one I had at my desk as a intranet (in-house) web server.

How to Reformat & Reinstall Windows XP

This is a tutorial showing you on how to prepare for a clean installation, this involves reformatting your hard drive, this will get you a brand new install of Windows XP, with all your drivers and documents backed up.

Q and A…

Q. Will this format my hard drive?
A. Yes EVERYTHING will be gone unless you have separate partitions

Q. What are partitions?
A. In simple terms, your hard drive divided up into separate pieces with separate amounts of space.

Q. How long will this process take?
A. It depends how much space you use, but usually around an hour and 15 minutes.

Q. Can I back up my hard drive files into another partition?
A. Yes you can, learn how to do that yourself

Q. Is this all I need to do to prepare for the installation?
A. Yes in most cases, but make sure you have your installation discs for things like printers and routers.

Q. I don’t have an XP CD, can I still do this?
A. No in some cases, yes in others, if your computer came with the OS already inside it, the manufacturer will normally either give you a recovery disc or a partition, if you use either it will make your computer the same way it was when you took it out of the box, and you don’t need to backup your drivers.

Q. So I’ll lose everything?
A. Yes I’m serious -.- Unless you back it up

Q. I finished this, I can’t connect to the internet, what do I do?
A. You fag, I told you to backup all your drivers, you probably removed your network adapter…

Q. My audio doesn’t work, what do I do?
A. You better have backed up your audio driver, or you have to go to a friends computer and download your drivers from a site, if their not there, your screwed.

Easily copy music from Ipod to computer w/o extra software! FREE (Win 7/Vista/XP)

This shows how to take music off your ipod without downloading any extra software. Note: When you copy the music folders from your ipod, to your computer, some of the folders that are created may be empty, depending on the amount of music you have.

Does not work for Ipod Touch or Iphone

***STEP 8 CORRECTION*** In step 8, it says to copy the “music” folder. Do not do this, instead open up the folder where you will see files named f00, f01, f02 etc. copy these subfolders, not the music folder. I hav been finding that people who copy the music folder, instead of the subfolders, have been experiencing problems. Please copy the subfolders inside of the “music” folder. Thank you to all who helped me discover this, and no i do not know why this is the case.

**STEP 8 CORRECTION VERSION 2** Also, this has been suggested by someone, and it may do the trick if the first correction doesnt. “all you have to do is look at the folder while under “my computer”. right click on the folder titled “music”, then click properties. Uncheck “Read only” and “hidden”. now go to itunes and add the folder to the library ” If you do this, then follow step 8 as normal, copying the “music” folder.

*If Ipod does not show up in Windows Explorer*
-this may help

-make sure *view hidden files and folders* is checked!

if your having problems getting music from computer to itunes.
-open up each subfolder, select all of music inside and trying manually dragging over into itunes library

I’m using a CD with a bootable image burnt with Roxio Toast 10 Titanium. The OS is Windows XP SP2 Professional English. You can get a copy of this CD by going to a video I uploaded recently called Windows On A Mac : Download Windows XP and Burn Into CD.

My Mac has OS X Leopard 10.5.6. 2.4GHz 2GB RAM 250HD

My Bootcamp partition was 15GB and formated using NTFS file system with Windows.

Procedure [1]:
You are going to need a copy of Windows XP. You can get one by going to a video called Windows On A Mac : Download Windows XP and Burn Into CD. You can also buy a copy from any computer store. Next, you’re going to open Boot Camp assistant and then select the amount of space do you want your Windows partition to have. Then you’re going to click Partition and you will end up with your Mac HD and a BOOTCAMP partition. Then you’re going to insert your Windows CD. Make sure it appears on the desktop. Once it’s recognized, click Start Installation. Your Mac will reboot into a Windows Setup screen. Then some files will load up and Windows will start up. Press ENTER and F8 if you agree. Then you will select the Bootcamp partition on the list. Then press ENTER and choose your file system. I recomend formating in NTFS file system. Once done, Windows will copy some files in the partition. Then, it will reboot into the Windows Setup were you’ll be able to change some settings. Here you will change network settings, language settings, user settings and you will enter you Product Key. It will finish setting up and then it will reboot. Watch the second video to continue the installation.
